LibWeek2001
The main goal of this Libertarian Week (LibWeek2001) was to take a deep look at the present-day libertarian theory and practice.
Our starting point is the conjecture that a libertarian propensity is found behind many of our day-to-day activities, although frequently lacking a specifically libertarian title, and is even often found behind Movements or people who would not feel very comfortable with this definition (being called Libertarian).
LibWeek2001 was an opportunity to debate and confront ideas with the idea of updating the libertarian theory and practice, committed to a complete revolution or radical transformation of present society.
LibWeek2001 took place in two realms: internal debate amongst individuals and groups, and external activities open to other people and organisations. The programme of events included debates, open conferences, cultural activities and so on.
Anarchist and libertarian organisations throughout the world were invited to participate in the writing of the Declaration
Anarchism in the 21st Century of Anarchism in the 21st century, produced during the main International Meeting of LibWeek2001. The organisations which plan on signing the document then discussed and approved a series of International Libertarian Projects to be undertaken jointly. In the end, 15 organisations from 12 different countries and six language groups attended, with an additional 8 organisations from 5 other countries sending support messages!
