Faslane 365 es un bloqueos pacífico inninterrumpido de la base militar Trident en Faslane (Escocia) desde el 1 de Octubre de 2006 al 30 de Septiembre de 2007.

Faslane 365 esta pidiendo a un amplio rango de grupos locales,colectivos y asociaciones nacionales e internacionales de distintos sectores de la población su colaboracion viniendo a Faslane y mostrando su punto de vista para un futuro en paz, visible al menos por un periodo de 48 horas.

En la actualidad todavía no hay ningún grupo de bloqueo del estado español, pero por favor contactad con Faslane 365 si estáis interesados en organizar un bloqueo

Background Trident is Britain’s nuclear weapon system. It consists of four uclear-armed submarines, one of which is on operational patrol at all times. Each Trident submarine carries 48 nuclear warheads, each of which can be sent to a different target. Each warhead has an explosive power of up to 100 kilotons, which is 8 times the power of the atomic bomb >that was dropped on Hiroshima.

According to the UK’s nuclear policy, Trident shall be used to defend British ’vital interests’, which includes ’supplies of raw materials, above all oil’. In 2002, UK threatened to use Trident against Iraq.

Trident binds the UK into the American strategies of nuclear pre-emption. Through acquiring Trident from the USA, Britain has been able to maintain the façade of being a global military power. In practice the only way that Trident would actually be used is to give legitimacy to a US nuclear strike by participating in it. In a crisis the very existence of the UK Trident system might make it difficult for a UK prime minister to refuse a request by the US president to participate in an attack.

The public opinion in Scotland is against nuclear weapons, and previous blockades at Faslane have been supported by most of the opposition parties and the Church of Scotland.

The British government are currently discussing a renewal its nuclear forces and the development of a successor to Trident.
