Statement by Loles Oliván, Pedro Rojo and Carlos Varea

Loles Oliván, Pedro Rojo and Carlos Varea, members of the executive board of the Arab Cause Solidarity Committee (CSCA) report by this statement on the decision of resigning from our posts and of ceasing our militancy in this organization that we created and promoted since 1986.

Such decision is the result of a pondered reflection dilated over months after which we will continue our effort, once a cycle of almost two decades of militant compromise is being closed. A compromise which legacy is a common patrimony of all those men and women and organizations, members or not of CSCA, that with their active participation and dedication made and continue to make possible the development in the Spanish State of the engagement and active solidarity with the Arab peoples, with their collective claims and aspirations that are no others but those of any other people in the planet aspiring to live with dignity and sovereignty.

Our trust in this Arab emancipating effort remains intact. We also keep unswerving our commitment in promoting the political solidarity in favor of the Arab Cause, now more than ever, when the Iraqi and Palestinian people embodying it as a dramatic but exemplary dignity symbol, are being targets of the annihilation project that Zionism and Imperialism have reactivated in the capitalist globalization era against the Arab World. Very particularly, both Arab peoples demand, from the daily resistance, our internationalist and solidarity support in the combat for their national and social liberation against occupation and domination.

In this sense, we face up to the future being convinced there are yet many initiatives to imagine and to carry out, to mobilize ourselves and to call to mobilization, to keep at building collectively solidarity efforts from all possible ambits in the Spanish State with the Arab peoples, very specially with the Palestinian and the Iraqi people.

Therefore, we consider very necessary to reactivate the efforts of all of us, individuals and social, political and trade unions organizations that for so many years have been participants in the initiatives we have carried our together. In the case of Iraq, we are convinced that the framework of the already existing Spanish Campaign Against Occupation and for the Sovereignty of Iraq (CEOSI/PASI), established in June, 2003 [1], can be a genuine instrument to promote the solidarity with the Iraqi people and their libertarian effort. We encourage the call for a new meeting of CEOSI/PASI in which collectively we can define the actions and initiatives to continue intervening at the Spanish State and international levels in defense of the Arab Cause that is today the cause of Iraq and Palestine; to continue, together with Iraq, Palestine and the peoples that resist, resisting.

"Afrontamos el futuro con el convencimiento de que son muchas las iniciativas por imaginar y por llevar a cabo para seguir movilizándonos y llamando a la movilización, para seguir construyendo colectivamente las tareas de la solidaridad desde todos los ámbitos posibles en el Estado español con los pueblos árabes, muy especialmente con el palestino y el iraquí"

Loles Oliván, Pedro Rojo y Carlos Varea, miembros de la Junta Directiva del Comité de Solidaridad con la Causa Árabe (CSCA), informamos por medio de esta nota de la decisión que hemos tomado de dimitir de nuestros cargos y de cesar nuestra militancia en esta organización, que hemos fundado e impulsado desde 1986.

Tal decisión es el resultado de una meditada reflexión, dilatada durante meses, a partir de la cual procuraremos proseguir nuestra labor tras haber cumplido un ciclo de compromiso militante de casi dos décadas, cuyo legado es patrimonio común de todas aquellas personas y organizaciones, integrantes o no del CSCA, que con su activa participación y entrega hicieron y siguen haciendo posible desarrollar en el Estado español el compromiso solidario con los pueblos árabes, con sus reivindicaciones y aspiraciones colectivas, que no son otras que las de cualquier otro pueblo del planeta que aspire a vivir con dignidad y soberanía.

Nuestra confianza en este esfuerzo emancipatorio sigue intacta. Mantenemos asimismo inquebrantable nuestro compromiso en seguir impulsando la solidaridad política a favor de la causa árabe, ahora más que nunca, cuando los pueblos de Iraq y Palestina -que la encarnan y simbolizan dramáticamente pero con dignidad ejemplar- son objetivo del proyecto de aniquilación sistemática que el sionismo y el imperialismo han reactivado en la era de la globalización capitalista contra el Mundo Árabe. Particularmente ambos pueblos nos reclaman desde la resistencia cotidiana el respaldo solidario e internacionalista a su combate por la liberación nacional y social, contra la ocupación y la dominación.

En este sentido, afrontamos el futuro con el convencimiento de que son muchas las iniciativas por imaginar y por llevar a cabo para seguir movilizándonos y llamando a la movilización, para seguir construyendo colectivamente las tareas de la solidaridad desde todos los ámbitos posibles en el Estado español con los pueblos árabes, muy especialmente con el palestino y el iraquí.

Por ello, consideramos necesario reactivar los esfuerzos de todos y todas, individuos y organizaciones -sociales, políticas, sindicales- que durante tantos años han sido partícipes de las iniciativas que conjuntamente hemos llevado a cabo. En el caso de Iraq, tras el sostenido esfuerzo de 13 años de lucha contra el embargo y la guerra, estamos convencidos de que el marco ya existente de la Campaña Estatal contra la Ocupación y por la Soberanía de Iraq (CEOSI/PASI), establecido en junio de 2003 [1], puede ser el instrumento idóneo para impulsar la solidaridad con el pueblo iraquí y su resistencia frente a la ocupación.

Animamos por ello la convocatoria inmediata de una nueva reunión estatal de la CEOSI/PASI, en la que colectivamente podamos definir las acciones e iniciativas para seguir interviniendo en los ámbitos del Estado español e internacional en la defensa de la causa árabe, que hoy es la causa de Iraq y de Palestina, para seguir junto a Iraq y Palestina, y junto a los pueblos que resisten, resistiendo.
