Dear sisters and brothers,
It is with deep dismay that we inform you of the latest aggression we have endured, perpetrated against our brothers Pedro Bautista Rojas and Raul Gatica in Mexico City where they had traveled in order to fulfill a commission of our Indigenous Council CIPO- RFM.
The multiple murder attempts suffered by our brother Raul Gatica and many of us at the Indigenous Council are well known. Especially during the racist government of Jose Murat, who has tried to murder him at every opportunity; it seems imprisoning him or disappearing him is insufficient, the plan murder outside the state of Oaxaca in order to disguise the dirty job and its perpetrators.
In order to attain his goal, the governor will not give second thoughts to using members of the police forces dressed as civilians, to simulate a car accident, an assault, a street fight or any means to justify the murder of our brother. Of course, once accomplished, it will be them, murderers, who will condemn the crime and denounce the perpetrators and their punishment according to the law despite protecting the paramilitary forces and the murderers of our brothers.
We attach a document describing the events that took place on September 30th, in Mexico City, miles away from Mr. Murat’s feud, which gives us a clear idea of the extent to which this powerful man hates a simple Ñuu Savi (Mixtec) Indian. If he is capable of organizing an aggression of such dimensions miles away from his territories, then any part of the country becomes dangerous grounds for any citizen.
We eagerly encourage you to manifest a most forceful protest following this outrageous murder attempt to one of our brothers.
Send a letter, a telegram, a card. Phone, send a fax or send an email, make your dissent manifest. Do not wait until our brother is dead, in order to see how our brother is killed and subsequently lament out inactivity whilst there is still a chance to stop his murder.
