With this publication we request clarification of the following statement by the government of Oaxaca spoken through Franco Vargas when he states to the correspondent Rosa Rojas that there are no political prisoners.
1) The facts deny what has been said by civil servants. In his campaign declarations, Ulises Ruiz states that he will not allow public protests.
Then when they do occur, they are answered with eviction and imprisonment without committing a single crime, as it is the case with our prisoners.
2) Several of the detained have said that the secretary of government himself has offered to liberate them if they sign the so called pact for Oaxaca and do not protest again.
3) The civil servant insults the reader`s intelligence, because we know that the state of law and the laws in this country are bent in favour of the powerful, we can look at the example of the injustice of Andrés M. López Obrador.
4) If there were doubts, in Oaxaca there are plenty of examples: why is it that after the great protest on February 18 some of the detained have been set free? Or does the government set delinquents free, or is it that he government commits injustices and jails people for political reasons? How do they explain that Jacqueline López Almazan was set free due to lack of evidence and that Gabine Cué was not detained even though there was an arrest warrant on him. Or the illegality of the occupation in the warehouse of the newspaper Noticias and the trials against the prisoners of CIPO?
5) Mr Governor and Mr Secretary: who are you trying to deceive with the inexistence of political prisoners? We call upon you to adhere to the facts, to suppress the constitutional rights does not resolve the problematic of our state and even though you deny it, the organizations are a factor of governability and development, therefor you should heed to the complete agenda that we propose and that you must, although you deny it, free the indigenous political prisoners: Dolores Villalobos Cuammatzi, Margarita García García, José and Habacuc Cruz Cruz, Juan Alavez of the CIPO-RFM, Alejandro Cruz López, Samuel Hernández Morales of the COMPA and those of Xanica, to name a few.
