Communiqué of the Magonist Popular Coordinating Committee (COMPA)

TO THE MEXICAN PEOPLE

TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY

TO THE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL PRESS

The governor of the state of Oaxaca Ulises Ruiz Ortiz cannot stop the international protests for violating human rights.

The governor of Oaxaca Ulises Ruiz Ortiz, coming from a PRIist background. During his first two months at his post, first he ordered farmers of the community of Santiago Xanica to be shot at, he imprisoned them, he also apprehended and imprisoned four comrades of the Magonist Popular Anti-Neoliberal Coordinating Committee of Oaxaca (COMPA).

As soon as he came to power the constitutional guarantees as well as the human rights in the state were cancelled. His thirst for blood and sick power, has the objective to massacre all attempts to struggle to improve living conditions of the indigenous peoples.

As part of his repressive politics, he has now sent a group of PRIists, to the City of Mexico to try to legitimize before the public opinion the climate of terror that rules in the state and his communities. We do not forget that the PRI has for more than 70 years plunged our country in extreme poverty, and their administrations caused acts of bloody repression that
cost many indigenous peoples of different communities their lives, as well as the handing over of our resources to the international financial capital. We have memory, we do not forget, we do not want more forgetting for us.

We have started a denunciation campaign at a national and international level. Today the eyes of the world are on the state of Oaxaca, that is why Ulises Ruiz is now trying to mask his fascist attitude to use the PRIist communities to create conflicts between
indigenous peoples. The only ones who will benefit from all this is the clique of the governor, such as Roberto Madrazo. We fear acts of provocation and we
make the govenor responsible of any act that will place at risk any of the members of the COMPA.

We make an urgent call to the public national and international opinion so that they will join us in the demand of stopping these imprisonments and indigenous massacres in the state of Oaxaca.

We demand:

1) The restitution of constitutional guarantees in the state of Oaxaca.

2) Unrestricted respect for human rights.

3) We demand that the state government stop the violence that is prevailing in the communities of Oaxaca, where the following are to be found: Santiago Xanica, San Juan Copala, Santiago Astata, San Blas Atempa, Mazatlán Villa de Flores, San Juan Lalana,
Nuevo Venustiano Carranza de Ejutla de Crespo and Jalapa del Marquez.

4) The political trial of governor Ulises Ruiz Ortiz.

5) Absolute and unconditional liberty for political prisoners of the COMPA: Jacquelina López Almazán, Samuel Hernández Morales, Alejandro Cruz López, Abraham Ramírez Vázquez, Noel García Cruz, Juventino Gracía Cruz and Pedro León Galindo.

To the National Commission for Human Rights (CNDH), we demand that they speak out against these exposed facts of repression in Oaxaca, a recommendation to the government of Oaxaca for the violation of human rights in the state and they should also issue cautionary measures to safeguard the physical and moral integrity of the our imprisoned comrades.
