Lista para intérpretes y traductores ciegos, Fw: Our list for Translators and Interpreters

adquirir diccionarios o buscar terminología,o simplemente hacer contactos
con gente del mismo campo. Por eso pido a todos que conozcan a ciegos que
estudian traducción o trabajan de traductor, que hagan circular este
mensaje. Son bienvenidos profesores de traducción e interpretación que
quieran colaborar.

Os podéis poner en contacto conmigo, anja o Alan.
Saludos de alemania,

Nermin

Hello!

I just wanted to let all you know that I've given some further
thought to the list we want to create for blind translators and interpreters. As
soon as we can come to an understanding on a name for the list, I'll make
the appropriate arrangements. I've put the addresses of those I know to
be interested in the CC field of this message in case you would like to
contact each other before we actually get the list started.
As a first step, I'd like to suggest that we call the list The Round
Table. I'm open to other suggestions, but I think the name symbolizes the
kinds of open discussions we want to have and since round table meetings
are very common kinds of assignments for interpreters, I felt the name seemed
appropriate.
The list can be open to blind people who are studying in translation
or interpretation, as well as blind people who are already working in the
field.
If you know of interested professors who would also like to join, I
think that is also an excellent idea.
As I see it, the list would probably have to function by invitation,
since it is a list for professionals. I have absolutely no experience
moderating lists, but I'm willing to give it a try to get things started.
English would be the language of the list, but I can imagine that there
may be situations in which those whose A language is not English may need to
use a different one.
Please feel free to pass this information on to other interested
people. Once we agree on a name for the list, I'll make the arrangements
to set it up. I'd like to get things started before work starts overtaking
all of us, so I hope you can send me your comments and suggestions no later
than next Monday.
I very much look forward to hearing from you all.
All the best in 2004!
Alan Conway
