SOCIAL SUPPORT:

CHAIN OF SOLIDARITY

WHAT WE DO?

It´s hard to escape from realities on inequality, injustice and lack of culture. From the knowledge of this reality we try to answer with a high degree of imagination and assuming the insecurity that changes can produce.

Our association has never done workshops and activities that reproduce the roles that women had been assuming. We have always been working on self-knowledge of our reality, our personal growth and so, we forget the macrame, fast food and how to make up yourself.

Going out home does not serve, if it is not a liberating action. Priests and politicians fill their meetings using women as mere spectators.

A man sees no evil in dressmaking courses, but on the other hand, if his wife attends lectures on self-esteem can change her vision of the patriarchal order of the world.

A woman comes to our Association in different ways: From mouth-to-ear, by law enforcement, through health centres, social workers, etc..

When a woman arrives at our association it begins the process of change and self-knowledge, because we make an interpretation on what is our role in society.

The problem of violence has emerged, but somehow we have covered  by ourselves. To visualize the problem we put it on the streets and give out information on squares, markets and bus stops.

Women with problems of violence were approaching us and so far our involvement with them is comprehensive. We evaluate what they need and we prepare their divorce process. In our intervention we not exercise the mentorship, we simply help them to develop its own process until they  take the decisions that they think more convenient themselves.

So, our work consists in accompanying them, the voluntary support women in their most immediate needs that they require and among women victims of violence occurs a chain of solidarity and support. They have self-made help, company, search for work, housing, childcare and so on.

In this chain of solidarity they establish relationships and commitment to each other and it establishes a bond of friendship.
