El Comité Constitucional comienza sus trabajos descuidando y excluyendo a mujeres expertas en Derecho

Este asunto plantea una duda fundamental en lo que respecta a la democracia y los principales objetivos de la revolución que fueron formulados en su inicio como el acceso a la igualdad, la libertad, la democracia y la participación de todos los ciudadanos.

Las Instituciones y Organizaciones siguientes, han firmado este comunicado en desaprobación de los criterios seguidos para la formación del Comité Constitucional que no incluye a ninguna mujer.
Continuar con un Comité de estas características, desencadenará temores y suspicacias sobre la proyección futura de Egipto y sobre la transición que se vive en Egipto tras la Revolución de 25 de enero.

Este asunto plantea una duda fundamental en lo que respecta a la democracia y los principales objetivos de la revolución que fueron formulados en su inicio como el acceso a la igualdad, la libertad, la democracia y la participación de todos los ciudadanos.

Cuestionamos los criterios seguidos para elegir a los miembros de la Comisión Constitucional ¿Fueron criterios políticos o basados en los valores de Igualdad y Justicia impulsados por la Revolución?. Si estos se basan en la eficiencia e integridad, entonces ¿por qué las mujeres juristas son excluidas a pesar de que Egipto existen gran cantidad de mujeres expertas constitucionalistas, tanto en el Tribunal Supremo Constitucional como en las Facultades de Derecho?.

Creemos que, al igual que las mujeres egipcias han participado de forma activa en la Revolución, sufrido detenciones, desapariciones y torturas al igual que los hombres, tienen derecho a participar en la construcción del nuevo Estado por su simple condición de ciudadanas.

No obstante declaramos nuestra confianza en la capacidad del Consejo Militar y en su habilidad para conducir a Egipto hacia la Democracia. Por ello, hacemos esta Declaración para hacer hincapié en los valores de ciudadanía y participación de las mujeres específicamente y por el momento, en el Consejo Constitucional.
