Resolution in opposition to Plan Columbia
Fear-mongering and propagating a war on terrorism long before September 11, 2001, the US has been using the organization of American States and promoting the FTAA (Free Trade Area of the Americas) to try to mobilize international military intervention against the people's armed struggle in Columbia. Having armed and trained its military forces toward this end for a long time, the US Congress gave millions of dollars of military aid to the Columbian government about two years ago.
We, participants in Towards our Liberation: An International Women's Conference Against Imperialist War and Plunder, resolve to stand together in opposition to Plan Columbia.
Resolution supporting the release of all Mexican Political Prisoners and against the imperialist free trade agreements
The policies of hunger and misery of the right-wing Mexican government have resulted in growing discontent of the Mexican people that continues its resistance to the imperialist multilateral agreements of domination and plunder such as the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA), Plan-Puebla-Panama (PPP), and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) that are privatizing social rights and selling the wealth of the nation.
The people's organizations that are fighting the neo-liberal attacks are growing everyday. To this social protest, the Mexican state has responded with killings, disappearances, jail and generalized repression against activists.
In Mexican jails, there are more than 1000 political prisoners that the state maintains imprisoned as hostages before the Mexican people's struggles.
We continue fighting the capitalist system and its oppressing institutions in Mexico. But at the same time, we are struggling for the release of Gloria Arenas Agis, Insurgent Colonel Arrora, and her husband Jacobo Silva Nogales, Insurgent Commander Antonio, as well as the Cerezo brothers and all political prisoners in Mexico.
No to the FTAA!
Long live International solidarity!
