SHABEEBA SOCIETY OF BAHRAIN. The Decision came as a result of Noor’s courage and as an answer to the unity of the civil society.

The Decision came as a result of Noor’s courage and as an answer to the unity of the civil society

The Shabeeba believes that Noor’s case shed the light on the rules which restrict the freedom of opinion and expression in the student work, which should be changed by the efforts of the civil society.

We affirm that the cancellation of the University’s decision came as a result of the union of the civil society; therefore those united efforts should continue in order to achieve the required freedom.

The Shabeeba clears out that Noor has not renounced any of her principles nor denied what was mentioned in the Statement. In her last letter which was written at the request of the University’s Chairman, Noor affirmed her commitment to the Statement without any kind of apology. The letter only included Noor’s binding to the required rules in case of distributing such statements in the future.

The Society salutes Noor Hussain, the Head of Students’ Activities in the Society’s Board, for her courage and resistance- facing the Administration of the University, some newspapers which praised the University’s decision and some Parliament members who also praised on the decision. Noor was brave enough to stick to her rights until the University changed its decision.

The Society would like to clear out that Noor’s case was a result of equal efforts of everyone so there is no room for competition and showmanship of some parties which added this accomplishment to its political accomplishments.

The Society appreciates the efforts of all local and international civil society institutes who stood bravely by Noor and the Society neglecting all political and ideological differences aiming at a pure civil goal which is the right of speech and freedom of expression.

The Shabeeba undertakes continuing its efforts with the civil society and calls to establishing a national committee to defend the freedom of student work which will be working on revising the rules and regulations of student work of the universities and spreading awareness of its goals through public activities and events.

On conclusion, we ask the University’s Administration to have another look at its rules and regulations and make sure they allow a real partnership between the Administration and the students and comply with the Reform Project of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
