Over the last weeks there has been a growing public debate on the so called “economical crisis” that has started in the USA and had impacts in Europe and that is supposed to threaten the economy of the whole world.
This crisis, which the economists promoted by imperialism don’t seem able to explain, is in fact due to the accumulation of years of financial speculation that never produced any concrete thing, being only useful to a bunch owners of multi-national companies’ owners, who have increased even more their stupendous fortunes. The World Federation of Democratic Youth has received with much happiness the news about the historical triumph of “Yes” with 70% of support to the new Constitution of Republic of Ecuador, which as President Correa said, expresses the wish of Ecuadorians to achieve a new nation: sovereign, fair, without misery, with production, with employment and without discrimination.

This progressive constitution has once again defeated the neoliberal model, which has lead to poverty thousands of Ecuadorians, and includes the firm decision to not allow the keeping of foreign military bases, defending the nature, the food security, the recognition of intercultural and plurinationality, which makes it one of the most progressives of the World. Over the last few days, the World Federation of Democratic Youth as followed with attention the political developments in Bolivia, caused by violent attacks of the opposition, once again supported by the Government of the United States. We have also followed the efforts of the legitimate president Evo Morales in order to achieve ways to reestablish the dialogue and peace.

Once again, the Latin American oligarquies are boycotting the democratic processes that are developing in the region, demonstrating their despise for the poor and denying to recognize that the people have united themselves to struggle for a World that we are sure it is possible. (more…)

The World Federation of Democratic Youth expresses once again its admiration towards the example given by the Five Young Cuban Heroes, who are kept unfairly imprisoned in the USA, charged of fighting against terrorism. They are the best of the Cuban Youth and an inspiration to all those that struggle against imperialism.

During these days, when the 10th anniversary of their unfair imprisoning is celebrated, we condemn once again the American Government for this action and demand their unconditional freedom. (more…)

The World Federation of Democratic Youth watches with attention the recent developments in Caucasus region, expressing its solidarity to all the victims, particulary the youngsters – dead, wounded and refugees – of the war between Georgia and Russia.

WFDY severely condemns both the attack of Georgia to Russia, as well as the Russian invasion of the Georgian territory, in a war where both sides are merely struggling for imperialist interests and none is indeed defending the people and the youth and their interests, showing there is no good side when it comes to inter-imperialist conflicts, such as this one. We held the CCM of the WFDY on the 18th of July 2008 in Caracas, Venezuela.
In this meeting, we condemned the armed build-up of the U.S. and the moves of confrontation against the reunification of south Korean conservative authorities and call upon all the progressive youth and students organizations, all the structures related to youth to extend support and solidarity toward Korean youth and students in their struggle for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country. WFDY would like to extend its solidarity and support to the youth and people of Zimbabwe after the March 29 2008 elections.

WFDY would like to firstly congratulate ZANU PF and its government for the democratic, peaceful and free and fair manner in which the elections were conducted taking cognisance of the fact that this is the first time in Africa such an election was conducted. (more…)
