The Christian Center for Reflection and Dialogue is not a confessional but an ecumenical non-governmental organization. Based on the Christian faith, it not only cooperates with churches and religious institutions but also with non-religious entities in society. In Cuba the Center basically undergoes the same difficulties as other countries of the world: a certain lack of understanding with the State and with some churches. In our modest opinion, our country's most pressing problems stem from the burdensome foreign debt, the American economic embargo, the lack of sources of energy, the low agricultural outputs, the shortage of foreign exchange, among others. All these issues could be addressed by the international community At present we are working with the following international organizations: Germany: Bread for the World Berliner Missionswerk (BMW) KATE SODI Spain: SODEPAZ: We are starting new contacts with this organization. United States of America NARDA Center for the international policy of Washington Canada United Church of Canada Anglican church of Canada Inter-Church Action Saskatoon-Cuba Network. We are also on good terms with Cuban churches such as the Catholic, the Baptist, the Methodist, the Episcopal, the Pentecost and the Adventist of the Seventh Day churches. Besides, we work with non-governmental organizations: Centro de Estudios de America, AUNA, Martin Luther King Memorial Center, among others. We are likewise in touch with Universities and Higher Education Institutes such as the Cuban Science Academy and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment. We are on good terms with political authorities and the government. GENERAL INFORMATION The province of Matanzas limits to the North with the Strait of Florida, to the West with the province of Havana and the cove of La Broca, to the North-west with the province of Villa Clara, to the South-west with the province of Cienfuegos and to the South with the Caribbean Sea. The area is of 11 882 Km2. The average population of the province is 635 532 inhabitants. The population density is 47,3 inhabitants per Km2. The growth annual rate is 0,9 % and the main urban center is Matanzas City.
